Non-resorbable, titanium-reinforced PTFE barrier membrane for guided bone regeneration (GBR). The Wifi-shaped titanium frame keeps the augmentation space stable, while the non-porous, almost transparent PTFE film shields the soft tissue.

WHY “WIFI-MESH”?

The stability of a titanium mesh, the handling of a PTFE membrane

The titanium frame resembles the Wi-Fi symbol – hence the name. It is easy to bend and reliably holds its shape without springing back. The non-porous, smooth PTFE film prevents bacterial penetration; according to the manufacturer, the membrane therefore does not need to be removed immediately in case of early exposure. It is fixed through the central opening and easily removed during the second surgery.

STRUCTURE

Titanium between two PTFE layers

The titanium frame (Grade 2, ASTM F 67) is embedded between two layers of PTFE film. It gives the membrane its shape stability and secures the space for the graft – even for vertical and horizontal defects in the anterior region with little residual bone.

The almost transparent film allows the healing of the underlying tissue to be assessed and makes it easier to decide when to remove the membrane. As it is 100% non-resorbable, the clinician determines the healing period.

Benefits at a glance

Bend the trimmed membrane completely to the defect. According to the manufacturer, incompletely bent edges may spread inside the gingiva.

The central opening allows fixation with bone screws or GBR abutments such as the Cowellmedi BOSS® system – also for vertical augmentation.
