What makes TITAN-X different?

TITAN-X is derived from bovine bone and processed using a low-temperature technique. According to the manufacturer, this process is designed to preserve the natural surface topography of the bone mineral while avoiding vitrification associated with high-temperature processing.

In addition to hydroxyapatite, the manufacturer reports the presence of octacalcium phosphate (OCP) crystals on the surface. OCP is a biologically relevant calcium phosphate phase involved in the bone mineralisation process.

FOR DENTAL PROFESSIONALS

Use in Regenerative Dentistry

TITAN-X acts as an osteoconductive scaffold to support bone regeneration. Its porous structure facilitates blood uptake and provides a framework for cellular colonisation during the regenerative process.

  • Socket preservation / ridge preservation
  • Horizontal bone augmentation
  • Sinus floor augmentation
  • Peri-implant bone defects
  • Periodontal bone defects
  • May be combined with autogenous bone where clinically indicated

Clinical Handling

Hydration Saturate with the patient's blood or sterile saline solution. According to the manufacturer's instructions, PRP may also be used.
Placement Place the material loosely into the defect. Excessive compression should be avoided in order to preserve the porous structure of the graft material.
Combination Depending on the indication, TITAN-X may be combined with autogenous bone and appropriate regenerative techniques.
INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS

Where does this bone graft material come from?

TITAN-X is a bone graft material of bovine origin. This means that the source material is derived from cattle. It undergoes a specialised processing procedure and is used by dental professionals as a scaffold to support the formation of the patient's own bone in the treatment area.

Whether a bovine, human-derived or synthetic bone graft material is appropriate depends on the individual clinical situation as well as the patient's personal preferences. The choice should be discussed with the treating dental professional.

At a Glance

Animal-derived? Yes – bovine (cattle)
Human-derived? No
Synthetic? No
Role of the material Scaffold and space-maintaining graft material during bone regeneration
ImplAg Guidance
Bone graft materials differ in origin, composition, processing, resorption characteristics and volume stability. In addition to bovine materials, human-derived and fully synthetic alternatives are available.

* Information regarding the material structure and OCP is based on the manufacturer's technical information for TITAN-X. Selection and use of a bone graft material are the responsibility of the treating dental professional and should be based on the indication, defect morphology and individual patient situation.
