CM LOC® – Switching to Dualock

CM LOC® by Cendres+Métaux was an adjustable snap attachment for implant overdentures. Since spare parts are no longer available, decreasing retention in existing restorations can no longer be remedied with new inserts. Dualock is an attachment system to which existing dentures can be converted.

WHY DUALOCK?

Long-term supply instead of no spare parts

Dualock works on the same snap principle and, according to the manufacturer, is fully compatible with Zest LOCATOR® – one of the most widely used attachment systems. This makes the long-term supply of spare parts easier.

SWITCHING

How to convert a CM LOC denture

1. Identify implant system and platform (implant card, radiograph, treatment records).
2. Choose the matching Dualock abutment using the compatibility list and gingival height – we are happy to help.
3. Unscrew the CM LOC abutments, insert the Dualock abutments and tighten as specified by the manufacturer.
4. Remove the CM LOC housings from the denture and pick up the Dualock housings chairside.
5. Insert a retention insert with suitable retention force and check retention.

FOR THE PATIENT CONVERSATION

What you can tell the patient

The existing denture can usually continue to be used – only the retention elements are replaced.
The conversion is usually possible in one session, without further surgery.
Afterwards, spare inserts are available again, and retention can be adjusted as needed.
